“ဒီးစီၤအၤစါကိးထီၣ်ယွၤကစၢ်ဒီးစံး၀ဲဒၣ်, ယွၤဧၢ, လၢအအါမ့ၢ်ဂ့ၤ, လၢအစှၤမ့ၢ်ဂ့ၤ, နမၤစၢၤတၢ်ဒ်သိးသိးလီၤ. မၤစၢၤပှၤတက့ၢ်, ယွၤပကစၢ်ဧၢ, အဂ့ၢ်ဒ်အံၤ, ပသန့ၤပသးလၢနၤ, ဒီးပလဲၤထီဒါပှၤဂီၢ်မုၢ်ဖးဒိၣ်အံၤလၢနမံၤလီၤ. ယွၤဧၢ, နမ့ၢ်ပကစၢ်လီၤ. မ်ပှၤကညီအသုတမၤနၢၤနၤတဂ့ၤ.”

OUR HELP COMES FROM THE LORD

Bible in a Year: 2 Chronicles 13, 2 Chronicles 14, 2 Chronicles 15;
1 Corinthians 14:20-40; Psalm 101: 1-8

“ Then Asa called to the Lord his God and said, “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us, Lord our God, for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this vast army. Lord, you are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against you.”  
2 Chronicles 14:11 NIV

I grew up in a family that worked in the mountain area for gardening for our daily survival.  Life was hard since we did not get to go to work freely. Burmese military always harmed us or put landmines around our garden. With fear, my parents had to go to work. On December 31, 2005, Dad died when he stepped on a landmine. He bled to death before reaching hospital. Mom became a widow who had to take care of her four children. Moreover, she was emotionally injured when she saw the suffering of my Dad before his last breath. She would wake up in the middle of the night and cry thinking about everything that happened to Dad. She had to take care of us with so many struggles. As a woman, it was hard for her to go to our garden alone. When she asked for help from men in our neighbors, she was criticized badly since she was a widow. Life was hard but we sincerely prayed for our Mom to be healed from the emotional pain she had to go through. The biggest blessing was that God prepared church members who came to comfort us by their presence, support and sleeping over with us for months. With the support and love from the church and the grace of God, Mom was able to stand in front of people to testify and preach the Word of God after two years. She said that if she had not learned the Bible and was not a Christian, she might have killed herself. God is our helper and He comforts us when the world cannot give us any satisfaction. 

Reflection

We have read in the Bible that God helped and delivered His people when they cried out to Him. That does not happen only in the Bible. God helps his children when they are hopeless. But we need to rely on him. Have we called out to him with all our hearts?

Prayer

Lord, we thank you for not leaving us when we ask for help. Please teach your people to rely on you. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
