PLEASE ANSWER ME QUICKLY

There is no surprise worrying is a part of life. Nations, tribes, families, and individuals share worries as a common thread. As human beings, when we worry, we call upon the Lord and we want Him to answer our prayers quickly. Sometimes, we feel that God is not working on our requests and turning His back on us. 

In 2007, I went to work in Singapore as a housemaid. My boss, although a Christian, was rather unkind. She would curse a lot and scold at me every morning and evening. I prayed to God to get me out of that house quickly. I told my boss I did not want to work for her any longer and I asked her to allow me to return to Burma. My pleas fell on deaf ears. She berated me with rude and insulting words. I was in deep distress crying every day. I heightened my prayers to God to quickly remove me from the distress. I really wanted God to answer my prayer right away. But my ordeal lasted for nine months before I was able to leave. Sometimes, God teaches us to be patient and wait for His appointed time. It is by no means an easy task. We have to get more acquainted with God’s will. When the days of distress enter into our lives, we will have to go through them with patience until we overcome them. The Psalmist also went through worrisome times and he called upon the Lord because he was stressed, hurt, shattered, and desperate. He too asked God to work faster and answer his requests quickly. I believe we can all relate to him. Let us pray for one another as we are one in Christ. 

Reflection

Do you feel that God answers your prayers right on time? Do you feel that God is late? How can we grow in Christ as we wait upon the Lord?

Dear Heavenly Father, please help me not to be your child who calls upon You not only in hard times, but also in good times. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
