GOD STANDS WITH YOU
Bible in a Year: 2 Kings 6:24-33, 2 Kings 7, 2 Kings 8:1-15; Acts 22:22-30,

“That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.”
Acts 23:11 NLT
The scriptures above are true testimonies about God standing with His chosen servants when they faced trouble and reached their limit. In 2 Kings chapters 6 and 7, we learned that the Syrian army besieged Samaria. Consequently, famine plagued Samaria and people were having to kill and eat their own children. Doubt and disbelief crept into the hearts of the king and the leaders. In the eyes of humans, there was no way out. Defeat was certain. However, God’s word through Prophet Elisha revealed that God stood with His people and the Israelites gained easy victory miraculously because of the power of God. Although believers, especially those who serve in ministries, try to do good, some would choose to see them in a bad light and scheme to go against them. Elisha and Paul served God and did good things but the king and the crowd blamed them. The Apostle Paul himself had to face blame from his own people. Religious leaders plotted against him and delivered him into the hands of the Roman government. He had to face trial in Jerusalem and Rome. But, God stood with both Elisha and Paul and they faced adversity with the strength of the Lord.
When I served as pastor in Chiang Mai, there were problems due to misunderstandings that led to division in the church. Our efforts for reconciliation were unsuccessful. Some of my friends and coworkers found fault with me, even accused me of causing the division, and stopped talking to me. I prayed for them and God’s Spirit worked in their hearts. Later we became good friends again and worked together in unity. Today, we need faith and reliance on God more than ever before. We had multitudes of powerful enemies that instill fear in us. We are weak and it is formidable to face the enemies. However, please know that when you reach the end of your rope and there is nothing you can do, God will stand with you, help you, give you strength, and deliver you.

Dear Father God, please stand with us when we face illness, adversity and oppression from the enemy. Please increase our faith and courage in facing life challenges. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen
