GOD’S KINGDOM HAS A GOOD RULER

Governing is in the hands of God and He is a good ruler. I was born in Burma in 1976. I have never heard of one good ruler in Burma. From the first Burmese king, Anoryatar, who founded the Burmese kingdom, to 1962 when General Ne Win started ruling, people have always been living in fear and destruction. I grew up under the control of the military dictator, General Ne Win, and I did not know what it was like to live in a good country ruled by a good government. We constantly lived in fear, poverty, and starvation. No matter how hard my parents worked, we never had enough money. We were living from hand to mouth. In 1988, a nationwide protest was controlled by the military coup once again in Burma. It was such a hard life. Later, I moved to South Korea as a migrant worker. Korea is a great country and has a good government, but since I was not a Korean citizen, there were not a lot of opportunities for me, and I was not treated fairly by the Korean authority. I then went to Thailand and lived in a refugee camp. The area was controlled by both the Karen National Union (KNU) and Thai government. There we were full of anxieties living with so much uncertainty. Although the KNU is Karen, they did not have absolute power. They had to please the UN and Thai government before they could do anything. We, the Karen people, are countryless, and thus, we are not able to make our own decisions. Finally, I immigrated to the third country, America. The country is good and has good policies and many opportunities, but it is not perfect. There is injustice and oppression in this country too. Therefore, there is no perfect nation or ruler on earth. There are shortcomings everywhere. Finally, I came to the realization that God’s kingdom exists and it alone is perfect, and therefore, I will live for the hope of indwelling in God’s kingdom. Burma, Korea, KNU, UN, and USA are not perfect. But, God’s kingdom is everlasting, and it will be the greatest and perfect place for me. As such, my hope is in God’s kingdom and I wait for it to come quickly.

Lord, thank you for letting me understand Your lordship.  Please help me to hope and live for Your kingdom that I hope will come quickly. In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen
