GOD IS A REDEEMING GOD

Bible in a Year: Ezra 4:6-24, Ezra 5; Revelation 11; Psalm 145:1-7

“They will utter the memory of your great goodness, and will sing of your righteousness.”
Psalm 145: 7 WEB

On April 19, 2021, we made a trip from Thaung Ngu to Kayah State. The police and soldiers were making inquiries throughout the entire trip. We prayed hard and set out for our journey. One of the female students got carsick vomiting as the car was going up the mountain. Many also felt sick on the way. What made matters worse was having to answer many interrogations along the way. With the Lord’s protection, we safely made it to our destination, a town called De Maw Soe. God’s protection on this journey was like the one we read in Psalm 105:39, “He spread a cloud for a covering, fire to give light in the night.” After a month-long summer school for children and young people in the village up on the mountain, we were getting ready to return to the city. We then encountered a group of soldiers who were coming towards the village where the Karen people live. Our group was placed with armed soldiers, and we were being treated like captives and shields. The night was about to come and I was afraid that we would be traveling with the armed soldiers at night. When I saw a big rock and sat on it, the army officer approached me and said, “I fell down and I need to rest for a while.” That made it possible for us to take a break for a few minutes. Then the officer said, “You and your friends are not traveling with us anymore. Go the other way. If the battle breaks out, we will come after you and your friends and kill all of you.”  I replied, “Yes, thank you for releasing me and my friends.” I was so happy that I didn’t have to travel with these armed people anymore. I sang praises to God in my heart by singing the hymn, “He Keeps Me Singing.”

Reflection

In what ways will you sing His righteousness and redemption today? God’s love and shelter are a testament of how much He cares for us. Oh, what a miracle!

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for your love and your refuge for all of us. Please help us to live the way You want and to be the light for others. Please use us in Your ministry.
In Jesus’ Name we humbly pray. Amen.
