THE LORD HEARS US

Bible in a Year: Daniel 11:36-45, Daniel 12; 1 John 5:1-23; Psalm 139:1-10

“And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.”
1 John 5:14

If we are confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything, we also know that He will give us what we ask for. As children of God, we will receive what we ask of Him if we believe in Him wholeheartedly without a doubt.  

Starting in 2007, many refugees had the opportunity to move to a third country. I then started to wonder how I would make a living when I moved to a third country and when I thought of this, it brought me a lot of distress. I wasn’t able to converse in another foreign language and the thought of conversing in another language was daunting. As such, I told God, “LORD, please give me a job as a cleaner. If I have to do any other jobs, I will have to speak a lot and I do not want this. I want a job where I do not have to speak a lot.”

When I arrived in this country, I gained employment as a cleaner and this was just as I had prayed for. But one thing that I did not expect or ask for was that I received a good salary. I was talking to a friend and she asked me about my salary. When I told her the amount, she was really surprised. She told me that her sister who finished school in another country did not receive as much salary as I did. If you ask for anything that pleases God, He will definitely give it to you.  That is His promise to us.

Reflection

 God hears us. But are you listening to Him?

Prayer

Father God, help us so that we may believe in You wholeheartedly. May we seek Your face and do what is pleasing in Your sight. In the Name of Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
