ထံကီၢ်ကိးဘ့ၣ်ဒဲး, ခိၣ်နၢ်ကိးဂၤဒဲး, တၢ်လီၢ်ကိးပူၤဒဲး, မ့ၢ်ဒိကနၣ်တၢ်ကတိၤကဘျံးကဘျၣ်ဒီးအခ့အပှၤတဖၣ် ကမ့ၢ်ဒၣ်ပှၤတတီတလိၤခဲလၢာ်န့ၣ်လီၤ.

A LEADER WHO FOLLOWS THE WAY OF THE WICKED

Bible in a Year: Haggai 1, Haggai 2:1-23; 2 John 1:1-13; Proverbs 29:19-27

“If a ruler pays attention to liars, all his advisers will be wicked.”
Proverbs 29:12

If nations and leaders heed the word of liars, all their followers will become wicked.

Back when I was a civil servant in my home country, I came across many leaders who were corrupt and committed many misdeeds. The followers of these leaders were dishonest and they attempted to cover up the misdeeds. This in turn further emboldened the corrupt leaders. Gradually, these misdeeds became bigger and bolder, and eventually, these misdeeds became insignificant to them. The characters of these people worsened and honest people were seen as obstacles to them. This created an unconducive working environment and conflicts arose. Eventually, this led to disharmony.

When leaders pay attention to lies and their followers are dishonest, harmony will be shattered. For harmony to exist, we must love and be righteous. These days, we see many leaders who lack righteousness and love. However, there is a great leader whom we can look up to as an example. He is our loving and righteous LORD Jesus Christ.

Reflection

What should we do so we are not swayed by leaders who speak falsehoods  and whose advisors are wicked?

Prayer

LORD, have mercy on us. Grant us a wise leader whose advisers are upright and are able to provide him with valuable advice. In the Name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
