THE GOOD WORK OF GOD

Since we entered into 2020, COVID-19 has been a threat to every one of us. Worries filled the minds of many, presenting unprecedented challenges to families. In my own family, my mother-in-law contracted this infectious disease. She was almost 82 years old. COVID hit her hard as she was older and weaker. All our family members and our church prayed for her. As a caretaker, I was afraid I would also contract COVID-19. But, when I saw her suffering getting worse and longer, I decided to let the Lord determine what would happen to me. I put everything in His hands. To ensure I had the family’s involvement and input in caring for her, I asked my husband and his siblings if they would like to take our mother to the hospital or not. They did not want her to go to the hospital. Her condition became worse, and she had trouble breathing. One night, I was listening in on her breathing that was very laborious. I felt like there was no hope. I bowed down and prayed, “God, if you will let her live, please have mercy on her. I thank You for the good work you have poured out in her life. I believe there is nothing you cannot do (Luke 1:37).” In the morning, the pastor and his wife brought medicine for her. I gave it to her and she began to breathe better. Gradually, she got better and recovered. I know that the healing of my mother-in-law is the good work of God that was merciful and generous towards our family. As believers, when we are facing distress, let us depend on God, the King of victory and mercy, no matter how bad things get. I will sing praises to God all the days of my life.

Reflection

In good or bad times, how will we strive to keep our Karens’ customs of singing and praising God for the good work He has done in our lives?

God, please help us to sing praises to You for Your good work and live to glorify You.  In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
