THE BLOOD THAT WASHES AWAY OUR SINS
Bible in a Year: Ezekiel 17, Ezekiel 18; Hebrews 9:16-28; Psalm 121:1-8
“According to the law, nearly everything is cleansed with blood, and apart from shedding of blood there is no remission.”
Hebrews 9:22 WEB
Blood is essential for humans. No one can live without blood. A blood transfusion is necessary for a patient who loses blood to survive. “Therefore even the first covenant has not been dedicated without blood” (Hebrews 9:18). Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said “This is the blood of the covenant, which Yahweh has made with you concerning all these words” (Exodus 24:8). Back then, offering animal blood was a method for temporary atonement, but human beings actually need atonement for all sins to be completely forgiven. The blood sacrifices in Moses’ day could not provide such forgiveness. There is nothing in this world that can wash away the sins of all mankind other than Jesus’s blood. Christ shed His blood for the salvation and forgiveness of all mankind. At the first coming, Christ humbled himself and died for the sinners because he loved this world so much. At the second coming, however, He will judge us. Therefore, we need to value our heavenly inheritance, the Baptist belief. May we live according to God’s will and respond to the love of Christ with a life that is a blessing to others.
Reflection
What do you give back to the blood Jesus Christ shed for you? Let’s honor God with all our might.
Prayer
Dear Father, because Jesus suffered and shed His blood for us, Help us to remain faithful and love You Until the end. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
