STAND FIRM IN HIS WORD

I want to reflect on my life experience based on the Bible verse we read today. After immigrating to the United States, I moved from one state to another before settling down in Colorado. When I first came to Denver, Colorado, I didn’t think there were many Karen people in the city, but gradually more and more Karen resettled in the area and now by the grace of God we have our own Karen congregation called Denver Karen Baptist Church.

While serving in Denver Karen Baptist Church as a pastor, I witnessed many wondrous miracles God did for me. I would like to share how God does not let me be ashamed when I put my hope in Him. The incident took place back in April 2015. On Saturday April 25, I had to officiate the wedding of one of our church members. On April 24, I needed to be in another state to prepare two ministers for their ordination as assigned by the KBCUSA ordination committee. Given the situation, I must fly back immediately after this assignment in order not to miss the wedding.   There were several stops on my return flight itinerary, first from Moline to Chicago, then to Omaha, and finally to Denver. Upon the arrival at Moline airport, I found out that I was the only passenger to Chicago. When I boarded the flight, I overheard the captain asking his crew members whether to just call it a day in Moline as there was only one passenger on board.  I was afraid I would miss the wedding if they cancelled the flight to Chicago. Thus, I silently called upon God to help me to get back to Denver on time.

A few moments after my silent prayer, the captain walked down the aisle and greeted me. Then, I was seated in the front part of the plane before they started the pre-flight safety briefing.  Eventually, I was back to Denver on time and celebrated the wedding together with the bride and groom.  God showed His love to the young couple and me, the marriage officiant.   

Reflection

God does not allow us to be ashamed and does not let you down.  God is good and faithful to His word.  

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for not letting me be ashamed and giving me the chance to stand firm in your word.  In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
