‘‘ကစၢ်သ့ၣ်ဧၢ, ဟ့ၣ်တၢ်လၢသုကုၢ်န့ၣ်တီတီလိၤလိၤ, ဒီးဂ့ၤဂ့ၤဘၣ်ဘၣ်တက့ၢ်. အဂ့ၢ်ဒ်အံၤ, သုသ့ၣ်ညါလၢ သုကစၢ်အိၣ်စ့ၢ်ကီးလၢမူခိၣ်လီၤ.’’

CHILDREN GOT CAUGHT IN CROSSFIRE

About midnight, camp security ordered, “Not good news! Don’t sleep at home. Go to the ground level and hide there. Make sure there is no light.” With fear and trembling, I woke my five children up and we went down to the ground level. My four children sat around me and my youngest sat on my lap. He was merely three years old and I hugged him tight. In the dark, tears rolled down my cheeks and the words that I was going to say could not come out of my mouth. I hugged him even tighter. I looked at my children and prayed silently in my heart, “How long, God? How long do my children have to grow up in fear? How long will You hide Your face? They are just innocent children.” Children are having to grow up in fear and with anxiety because of people fighting against one another, greed desiring the riches of the world, and hunger for power blinding the eyes. Innocent children like mine have to suffer and grow up in fear. There is an old saying by our fore-parents, “When there is a fight between two buffaloes, the grass suffers.” There are “betweens” such as between husband and wife, between two families, between two churches, and between two countries. Less are love and interest in eternal things; more are opposition, self-indulging, and power-seeking. In the meantime, our children are caught in crossfire and their growth is adversely impacted. We harm our children, our church, and our nation thoughtlessly. There is a song that goes like this: “Don’t get attached to things below or things above. Only Jesus will give you satisfaction and peace forever.”
Reflection
Today, let’s ask ourselves if we are the ones creating conflicts and harming the development of our children.

Dear God we thank You, for You will heal the sicknesses of the world, such as war, hatred, hostility, worries, etc. May our hearts be closer to You! In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
