‘‘မ့ၢ်မး, ကတိၤတၢ်ထီဒါယွၤ, စံးဝဲ, ယွၤကတဲာ်ကတီၤစီၢ်နီၤခိၣ်လၢပှၢ်မုၢ်ကနၢဘၣ်ကသ့ဧါ, ကွၢ်ကွၢ်-ကျီလံလၢၢ်တ ဖျၢၣ်, ဒီးထံဖျိးထီၣ်, ဒီးထံကျိလုၣ်ဘၢတၢ်လံ. ဟ့ၣ်လီၤစ့ၢ်ကီးကိၣ်ဘၣ်ကသ့ဧါ, မ့ၢ်အကကတဲာ်ကတီၤတၢ်ညၣ်လၢပှၤဂီၢ်မုၢ်အဂီၢ်စ့ၢ်ကီးဧါ.’’

GOD PREPARES A TABLE IN THE WILDERNESS

“Yes, they spoke against God. They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”

Many years ago in 1997, our enemy under the ruling of the State Administrative Council of Myanmar advanced towards Myeik-Dawei district and started firing guns and missiles. The roaring sounds of the ammunition filled the air. We could no longer stay in the village. Villagers did not know where to run to stay alive. My family also felt clueless where to flee. The enemy was there if you ran up the river. The enemy was there if you ran down the river. We thought there was only one thing that would surely happen–we would all die. At that time, I remember a Bible verse found in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” On a quiet night, I knelt down and prayed. I pleaded with God to deliver us from danger. We were in the mountains for four months but we did not starve. We did not die. God prepared a table for us in the wilderness. After four months, we reached a refugee camp. There I knew God fulfilled my prayer. This life on earth is pleasant sometimes and miserable other times. No matter what, we are not to complain. We can complain as much as we want, but there is nothing we can do without relying on God.

In difficult wilderness experiences, how can you find a table God prepares for you?

Dear God, please teach us to trust you and rely on you. Help us not to blame you, but to be always true to you. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
