JESUS IS OUR LORD OF HOPE
Bible In A Year: 2 Samuel 15:13-37, 2 Samuel 16:1-14; Acts 6, Acts 7:1-19; Psalm 71:19-24

The hope of believers in Christ is beyond this life on earth. We also hope that once our time on earth is over, we will inherit eternal life with Jesus Christ, who prepared a place for us. While on earth, we go through times when we feel like we reached the end of ourselves, and lost our hopes and dreams. Losing possessions and power, or being hurt by people can lead us to hopelessness. The question for all of us is, “Where does our hope come from? And what or who gives us hope?” If our hope is entirely rooted in the world and the people, we will surely be disappointed. Biblical hope is based in the person of Christ, what He has already done, and what He said He will do. Faith and hope are inseparable. Believers know the God we believe in as the scripture explains to us is an omnipotent God, whose words will never fail (Luke 1:37). He is the God faithful in His word and promises. There is nothing God cannot do. Today, men can do a lot – flying, travelling to the moon, and exploring the land and the sea. But, men’s abilities are limited. When we face situations that try to rob us of our hope, let us look to Christ and hold on fast to His promises. True and lasting hope does not come from things of this world or people; it only comes from the promises of God rooted in what Christ has done for us. Let us, as children of Christ who place our trust in Him, put our refuge and hope only in the almighty God. Psalm 33:22 – “Let your loving kindness be on us, Yahweh, since we have hoped in you.”

Romans 15:13 – “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.” In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
