HUMBLE YOURSELF

Resettling in a third country alone is not easy. But if we humble ourselves and put our lives fully in the hands of God, He will honor us. There were many challenges involved in being resettled in a third country, but the hardest for me was communication. When I first came to America, I could not speak English. I soon got a job in a daycare. Because of language barriers there were always miscommunications. One time a coworker asked me to get something, but I brought something else to her. When they asked me to go outside with the children, I thought they asked me to take a break. It brought a lot of shame to me. In addition, I heard a child talk about me, “She doesn’t speak English.” I humbled myself and worked there for two years before I was fired. After that, I decided to go to school full time and learn more English to study Computer Networking Administration in order to make a lot of money. I got an associate degree from that program. But I quickly found out that field was not for me and I got discouraged. Humbling myself I asked God to choose a path for me where His glory would shine. In 2015, I changed my major to early childhood education. After one year, I got my associate degree. When I went to live in Arizona for six months, God gave me more opportunity to go to Grand Canyon University. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. By God’s grace, I got a job. I am learning so much at work from the children to be humble. Although I do not know their family situation, background, or culture of the children, when I give them love, kindness, and understanding, I am showing Christ’s love. We are reminded by 1 Peter 5:6-7 , “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.”

God, thank you for valuing my life. Please teach me to humble myself like You and count others better than myself. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
