GOD WANTS TO USE YOU

Life on earth is like the waves that toss to and fro. It offers no stability for us. Most have to go through situations that are hard, painful, fearful, and worrisome. Life is spent sometimes in misery in the valleys of the shadow of death, and other times in glory beside the still water. We call out to the Lord when we are in trouble. When we are in pleasure, we tend to forget the God Who does great things for us. But, the living God who loves us and washes our sins away with His blood is always waiting for us to come to Him.
Forty years ago, I was on a mission field caught between two sides. I had to serve as a village elder, a group leader, and a teacher. It was very hard. Life and death were equal chances for me being in that precarious position. When there were issues in the village, people came to me first rather than to the village heads. I had to be careful. It was risky being caught between the two sides. I was also not trusted by both sides. One side accused me of being a Burmese spy and the other side accused me of being a Karen spy. Others thought I was a sorcerer. Once I heard someone say, “He is not a Burmese teacher or a Karen teacher, but our village teacher. We invited him here. Nobody put him here.” Still, troubles hung around. I was a young adult and it was an awful experience. But, the God we worship is the true God. He helped me get through those hard times. He did not let those who accused me or wanted to condemn me get their ways. God wanted to use me in His service. Psalm 23:4 reminds and encourages me, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
Reflection
On earth there are those who want to accuse you and condemn you. But, God protects us. He is with us. He wants to use us. The devil wants to accuse us, but God wants to use us. Do we thank God and seek to understand the ways in which He wants to use us?
What kind of God’s children would He desire us to be?
Prayer
Father God, I am imperfect. But, I will live and do my best to carry out the responsibilities you give me. Use me, mold me, and teach me as You will. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
