“ယဒီပုၢ်ဝဲၢ်သ့ၣ်ဧၢ, ဟီၣ်ခိၣ်မ့ၢ်သးဟ့သုဒီးကမၢကမၣ်တဂ့ၤ. ပဝဲဒၣ်အံၤပသ့ၣ်ညါလၢပခီဂာ်လၢတၢ်သံပၢၢ်လၢတၢ်မူလံ. အဂ့ၢ်ဒ်အံၤ, ပအဲၣ်ပဒီပုၢ်ဝဲၢ်လီၤ. ပှၤလၢအတအဲၣ်ဘၣ်အဒီပုၢ်ဝဲၢ်န့ၣ်, အိၣ်ဝဲဆိးဝဲလၢတၢ်သံအပူၤလီၤ.’’

BY GOD’S GRACE, WE ARE NOT DEFEATED

“So don’t be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.”
1 John 3:13-14 NLT

My mother reminded me of my life when I was younger and this has become a testimony for me. My father passed away when I was young and he left behind my 3 siblings, me and my mother. I am the second oldest child. Ever since my father left this world, my mother had to shoulder the heavy burden and there were many difficulties along the way. Our lives were lacking in many aspects compared to most people. But with God looking over us, we were still able to live our lives and move forward step by step.

My life motto that keeps me going is Zephaniah 3:17-20. The sufferings our family had to endure  was not only the ongoing civil war, but also life without our father. My mother had to deal with poor health on top of leading the household. As I was the second oldest child, I had to work in the fields in order to help our family. I was only 5 years old at that time. My siblings and I were not able to attend school because of poverty. We also didn’t have a house so we lived in a shabby shed. When it rained, the shed didn’t shelter us from the rainwater so we had to run to our uncle’s place and live beside his cornfield. Sometimes, I wondered why life was so harsh for us. But God did not forget about us. We had the opportunity to hear the Word of God and also attend church where we were able to witness the faith of believers. It was God’s plan that we became believers. Not only that, we had the opportunity to migrate to a third country, the United States of America. We had to struggle back in our homeland, but here in the third country, everything was in abundance. We felt we were as blessed as Abraham.

God was present with us during our difficult times. My mother and my siblings are now able to live comfortably and we have everything that we need both physically and spiritually. I thank God for preserving us and not letting us be defeated in our lives. We have passed from death to life. The only thing left for us to do is to always praise and be thankful for His grace and mercy.

Reflection

 Sometimes when we face problems, we feel like the whole world is against us. When you face problems in your life, do you feel the love from God and your friends? 
Count them, instead of wallowing in despair.

Prayer

Father God, You deliver us whenever we face the many difficulties in our lives and give us a new life. We thank You and praise You in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
