THE WORD OF GOD KEEPS ME ALIVE

I grew up in a refugee camp. When I was in elementary school, my parents paid for the expenses of my study by selling snacks. When I was in high school, my younger siblings also were in elementary school. There are eight of us. For us to be able to go to school, my parents had to raise pigs, chickens, and ducks. Moreover, my mother had to take on a weaving job. All the money was spent on us. Because there were many of us, we could not afford nice clothes. We grew up very poor. One thing that made me happy was that I got to go to church on Sunday, read the scripture, sing, and listen to stories in Sunday School. But I did not understand everything. When I was resettled in a third country, I met leaders and teachers of the church. Because Christ is in their heart and they love us, I get to study the word of God and understand it is good for me. The love of Christ now rules my life. I serve God with the talent I have. I taste the Lord and see that He is good. God did not send me to Arizona to become complacent. He sent me so I would hear His word. Although I grew up with many challenges, because of God’s grace and promises, I am able to face life. The Word of God keeps me alive.
