NO ONE CAN SHUT A DOOR THE LORD
HAS OPENED

Bible in a Year – Jeremiah 51:15-64;  2 Timothy 4;  Psalm 119:97-104

“Preach the word. Be ready whether it is convenient or not. Correct, rebuke, and encourage, with all patience and teaching.”

From the beginning, when the Lord sent me to serve the Karen people in 1985 as an English teacher/missionary, He taught me, “Do not follow Karen, Burmese, Thai or American culture. Follow only My culture in My Word.” I became a Christian through studying His Word and my life radically changed! I read His Word every morning to know Him and His will. When I read 2 Timothy 4:1, 2. “I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and teaching.” I knew this is what He called me to do, so we established I would teach English through His Word. It wasn’t always easy, but the Lord encouraged me by three of my first students giving their lives to Jesus my first week. He knew I needed that encouragement when others turned against me later. One was a Karen driver who drove me to Karen in the beginning. He also drove for another missionary. Eventually they both turned against me and turned many of the villagers against me, including one of the Karen reverends. I was excluded from teaching at the village school. I went to the village pastor and judge for advice. They both told me to stay, so I continued teaching the Bible to the women prisoners. Eventually they all gave their lives to the Lord. I had to accept Luke 10:16, “He who hears you hears Me, he who rejects you rejects Me, and he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.” So many miracle stories in just obeying the Lord and being long suffering for Him! Jealousy has been with us from the beginning – look at Cain and Abel. So I continue to pray for them as I continue to share the truth of God’s Word and love.

Reflection 

Do you hunger to know God more and obey Him? Are you willing to suffer for Him in obeying Him? Do you want to glorify God in your life and bring others to know Him? Do you have a heart for those who don’t know Him and are eternally lost?

Prayer

Lord, help me to continually have Your heart, to want to do Your will, and to be obedient to You.  Use my life, Lord, to love others as You do, to live and die for You, and to bring others to You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
