ONLY BY GOD’S GRACE

We were just youngsters in 1947 to 1948. We had to go through wars and hostilities due to ethnic conflicts. As a result, we had to run and become displaced in fear. Our parents had to carry us in baskets tied to their backs day and night. They had to cross the river while carrying us. It was an extremely hard time, but we did not perish only by God’s grace. Once there was peace, we came back to live in our village. In our youth, there were problems with pursuing education, but we got to have some schooling. Later, our studies were disrupted because of political disorder in the country. There was a shortage of food and rice was scarce. But again, we did not waste away only by God’s grace. Growing a little older. I had to face an illness and temptations, but I did not fall apart only by God’s grace. In starting a family, there were challenges and illness abound, but God kept us alive only by His own grace. Then, I got to study at a Bible school. I had no money and there was economic hardship. Still, only by God’s grace, I graduated in 1988 and got to be in God’s service until today with my wife, eight children, and 11 grandchildren. It is not done yet. Even after we die, there is a building prepared by God and a house not made with hands in heaven waiting for us for all eternity. God’s grace is being poured out for us continually until eternity. How can we not praise God?
Reflection
Are you taking time to count the blessings that come through God’s grace?
Because God keeps us alive and blesses, my family, my church, my village, and I will live to serve Him until the day we leave this world.
Philippians 1:20 says, “…Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.”
Prayer
Dear Father God, please help us to serve you while we still have time, opportunities, and talents. Guide us to give back to You and glorify You. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
