ARISE AND SHINE

Bible in a Year: Isaiah 60, Isaiah 61, Isaiah 62; Ephesians 4:1-1; Proverbs 23:19-28

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.”  
Isaiah 60:1 NIV

In Isaiah 60:1, it is written ” Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.” In our daily life, we sometimes have to go through difficulties and face troubles until we no longer see any light. In these times, it feels like we are living in total darkness. But our God, Whom we trust, does not want us to go astray. God wants us to shine in this darkness. He shines His light on us so that we can shine in the darkness. In 2016, a tumor was found in my uterus and the doctor advised that it be removed. During the operation to remove the tumor, my spinal cord was accidentally injured when the anesthetic was administered. After the operation, I was in total pain and because of the spinal injury, the doctors thought that my lower part of the body would be paralyzed; I would not be able to walk. At about the same time, my mother had an eye problem and the doctor said that if she did not go to Singapore for treatment she would lose her eyesight. Our whole family was terribly worried at that time and we found ourselves living in total darkness and facing losses. But because of our fervent prayers and friends praying for our family, in 50 days I was able to walk slowly step by step. In a few months time, I was able to walk well again and resume working. My mother also regained her eyesight slightly. The God we worshipped is an almighty God and is the source of our light. Our God always wants us to arise and shine for His glory.

Dear God, please help us to see the light when we feel like we are in the darkness and to shine for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
