GOD WHOSE HANDS ARE NOT SHORT AND WHOSE EARS ARE NOT DULL

Bible in a Year: Isaiah 57:14-21, Isaiah 58, Isaiah 59; Ephesians 3; Psalm 111:1-10

“Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear.”

The scripture describes that God, Who is our Lord and lives eternally, is the One whose hands are not short and whose ears are not dull. Nevertheless, why isn’t He listening to our outcry today? The scripture reveals to us that our iniquities have separated us from God as our sins have hidden His face from us (Isaiah 59:2). I have seen some of our fellow Christians who often complain and make accusations in what they say. They say they are praying hard, but God is not answering them. Looking at them closely, one cannot help but notice that their life and attitude depart a far distance from a true Christian’s life. They do not forgive others, but see only good things about themselves and mistakes in others.  Their lifestyle blunders, but their arrogance towers. There are some who hold on to each other’s faults to the point that although they are closely related – like husband/wife, aunts/uncles, siblings, children – they do not visit each other even when one of them gets sick or dies. You will hear some of those people saying “I never did anything wrong to others.  I am clean and pure at heart.” They don’t see their weaknesses within themselves. Being ignorant, they complain that God does not listen to their prayers. Since God’s face is hidden from them, they feel defeated in their lives. Our beloved brothers and sisters, God, Whom we worship is not the Master whose hands are short or whose ears are dull.  It is because of our evil nature and sins that His face has been hidden from us. Hence, this is my humble exhortation to encourage us to avoid evil acts and recognize our weaknesses in order to live in harmony with everybody.

Dear Father God, please show us to be able to see our weaknesses and know how to avoid sins in our life. In Christ’s Name we pray. Amen.
