TROUBLES WE FACE IN SERVING GOD
Bible in a Year: 2 Kings 12, 2 Kings 13, 2 Kings 14:1-22; Acts 25:1-22; Proverbs 81:1-7

Once we talk about troubles, we can’t help but remember our own troubles. Of course, we have different experiences. Today, what troubles those of us serving in ministry are mainly challenges concerning health, food, and shelter. Let us learn the life of Paul afflicted with so many troubles. The challenges Paul encountered centered around the blames people piled on him. Why? Because the people during that time did not want to accept the Good News. When he was spreading the Good News in Jerusalem, the high priest and Jewish people made accusations against him and even attempted to kill him. Paul defended himself by saying he did not sin against the law of the Jews or the temple or Caesar. What we learned from Paul’s experience is that troubles can come from opinionated views of many and also from the aversion to the Good News.
In 2 Corinthians 4:8, Paul said, “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair” (KJV). Although troubles may afflict him from all directions, Paul knew God was with him and therefore his hope was kept alive. Likewise, let us hold on tightly to the knowledge that God is with us and let us keep our hope in God because we worship the God who delivers us from trouble and answers us in the secret place of thunder when we call upon Him.

Like Paul, how can you use hardships and trials you have experienced to be an encouragement to others?
Prayer
Dear God, there are so many troubles but you always open doors for blessings. Teach us and mold us as You will. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
