THEREFORE TURN TO YOUR GOD

The time was around 790-725 BC, when Hosea served in the kingdom of Israel ruled by Jeroboam II and there was economic prosperity. Hosea served for 60 years. If we read Hosea 1-4, we will find that the Israelites turned their back on God; they engaged in infidelity, unrestrained self-indulgence, detestable wickedness, debauchery, murder, thievery, and idol worshipping. There was nothing evil that was not committed in the land of Israel. They did not remember the grace of God. Their lifestyle was utterly depraved. Their sinfulness brought deep sadness to God. Hosea portrayed the message of God’s love and kindness towards the Israelites by living out a personal life that chose to marry Gomer, the woman who engaged in adultery. Hosea faithfully loved his wife and took care of her. He went after her with love and taught her what real love was. Just like that, God loves you and me. God was the only God of the Israelites from the very beginning. Time passed and the Isralites embraced the darkness and forgot about God. Therefore, God planned to teach them to turn back to Him and to know Him. Our forefathers said, “The color makes the blanket beautiful and the heart makes humans beautiful.” Let us carefully discipline our hearts and turn to God before it is too late.

Therefore, is there a need for you to turn back to your God? He is waiting for you with love.

Dear God, open my eyes so I see You. Give me understanding so I turn to You. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
