WAIT FOR GOD’S TIMING FOR THE BEST

“But as for me, my prayer is to you, Yahweh, in an acceptable time. God, in the abundance of your loving kindness, answer me in the truth of your salvation.”

When I was 12 years old, I asked my mother to buy me a watch. She told me that only teachers and leaders wore watches, which was true at that time. We did not have much at home. We had to incur debt to be able to eat daily. With little hope, I prayed to God to give me a watch and I waited. My step-father slaughtered pigs and sold pork. He sold pork on credit. When people got their monthly pay, they paid him for the pork. Some people had to take on more and more debt that by the time they got paid, they had no money left. To pay my father back for buying pork, they paid with old and raggedy cooking pots. To my delight, there was a watch among the things people gave my step-father to make up for the debt they owed. When my step-father got home, he brought no money. I heard some clashing exchanges between him and my mother. The watch was God’s answer to my prayer. If I had to wait for the time I could afford a watch, I would have never had one. Psalm 62:5 reads, “My soul, wait in silence for God alone, for my expectation is from him.” We also read in Psalm 100:5 – “For Yahweh is good. His loving kindness endures forever, his faithfulness to all generations.”
