FAITH HEALS

Bible in A Year: Judges 4, Judges 5; John 4:43-54, John 5:1-15; Psalm 57:1-6

“Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.”
John 4:50 WEB

We have to go through so many experiences in life. Sickness is also a part of the human condition and a fact of life.  Sometimes, we feel discouraged. Sometimes, we feel joyful. No matter what we go through, faith is fundamentally important in our lives. We read in John 4:46-54 about a nobleman, whose son was gravely ill and near death. He approached Jesus Christ in faith to follow him and heal his son. Jesus did not follow Him to heal his son. Instead, Jesus told him, “Go your way. Your son lives.” This nobleman did not force Christ to follow him or complain. He did not say, “Why didn’t you come with me. My son is dying.” Jesus told him to go his way and he did. The faith of the nobleman allowed Christ’s great power to work and he got the good news that his son lived, even before he got home.

My mother told me that when I was very young I got really sick with a skin condition with severe itches tormenting my entire body.  My grandpa and parents prayed to God to heal me and made a promise that they would raise me up to serve God.  By God’s grace, I was healed. I went through school step by step and later became a servant of God just as my parents and grandparents prayed and believed.

Let us hold onto steadfast faith during sickness and trials. Because of our faith, Christ can heal us according to His will.

Reflection

What weakens your faith and what strengthens your faith?

Prayer

Lord, I praise You. Help your children to trust in You with full assurance and be true to You until all of Your promises are fulfilled. In Jesus’ Name we pray.  Amen.
