NEHEMIAH’S BRAVERY AND UNWAVERING
FAITH IN GOD

“They were all trying to frighten us, thinking, “Their hands will get too weak for the work, and it will not be completed.” But I prayed, “Now strengthen my hands.”

When Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the wall of the city, he faced intimidation and many kinds of evil plots against him. But Nehemiah knew the insulting words were meant to frighten him just so he would be afraid and stop his efforts to rebuild the wall. Nehemiah was able to discern the lies from the wicked people. Instead, Nehemiah sought the will of God from the time when he heard the wall was ruined and his people were oppressed through diligent prayers. And God listened to Nehemiah’s prayers. God blessed Nehemiah for depending on God alone, believing God would help him, and not being afraid of the enemy’s lies and plots. He focused on his purpose and continued working in faith, totally committing himself and his plan in the hands of God. As a result, God blessed him and took care of him, which enabled him to finish his job in a shorter amount of time without being harmed.

Likewise, those of us who are the children and disciples of Christ, will be blessed like Nehemiah was if we work with bravery and unwavering faith in God in whatever we do. Proverbs 16:3 tells us, “Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.” In all things, God is omnipotent, perfect with power, love, and help for us.

Reflection

Do you get doubtful because of the words of the world? 
Do you put your unwavering faith in God?

Prayer

Father, we sometimes hear complaints and blames in our work feeling like nobody sees the good in us no matter how hard we try. Help us so we will not get weary and give up, but fix our eyes on You. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
