Many times, we get pulled into Satan’s temptations. Some of us fell into Satan’s trap of drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, chewing betel nuts, etc. We think we can quit easily. However, it is not as easy as we think. More than eight years ago, I chewed betel nuts and smoked. I tried to quit many times. Sometimes, I was even abstinent for years. However, due to Satan’s tricks, I would touch those things here and there, and ended up in a place worse than before. Later, through prayers, God helped me and transformed my life; I was able to quit smoking and chewing betel nuts. Now, I can’t even tolerate the smells of those. I thank God for giving me a transformed life.
Zacchaeus must have been aware of what his life looked like and who he was. He must also have been aware of what others thought of him. However, the heart that wanted to see Jesus Christ transformed his life. No matter how challenging it was, Zacchaeus was determined to meet Jesus. Zacchaeus left his position and renounced his pride. Humbling himself, he climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Jesus. Zacchaeus accepted Jesus’ invitation with eagerness. Moreover, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. As a result, Zacchaeus was freed from contempt, low self-esteem, and a stumbling lifestyle. Zacchaeus received true joy as a result of a transformed life.
Reflection
Do you believe God can transform lives? It will happen when we let Him work His way in our lives. Then, we will have true joy.
Prayer
God, although we may lead a stumbling lifestyle, Your love for us remains the greatest. Please transform our lives and give us the heart to love you more than anything else. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
