Once, I was a child of Christians. When I was young, my parents took me to Sunday School. When I became an adult, my parents wanted me to fear and serve God so I became someone who worked in the ministry. Parents do not want their children to end up in ruin. To tell the story short, my parents sent me to a Bible school. Like others, I graduated. However, my love for God and my sacrifice to Him were lacking conviction. I served as I was supposed to, but I evaded loving God authentically and denying myself for Him. The scripture found in Jeremiah 48:10a reads, “Cursed is he who does the work of Yahweh negligently;…” I was miserable with worries, misunderstandings, and sinning. I touched unholiness and felt like my life was ruined. Later, I came to understand my ungodly behaviors and prayed in tears. I repented with all my heart and heard God saying to me, “Daughter, I love you the most.” I cried my heart out again and felt the arms of God holding me. It felt like I was in a trance, and when I woke up, I felt peace. I knew God forgave me. 1 John 3:6-9 tells us, “Whoever remains in him doesn’t sin. Whoever sins hasn’t seen him and doesn’t know him. Little children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed: that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever is born of God doesn’t commit sin, because his seed remains in him, and he can’t sin, because he is born of God.”
Reflection
Do you really know God personally? Let us love God with the love that flows from our own hearts, and not with the satisfaction that comes from a sense of duty! That is real love.
Prayer
God, please help me to love you more, and keep me away from evil and temptations. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
