FAITH OVER THE PHONE

Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM is a weekly scheduled time for pastors from Omaha Karen Baptist Church to worship and meet. The meeting begins with words of encouragement from the scripture, followed by the discussion of matters pertaining to the church business.
One day, after the worship was over and during the discussion of the church matters, a phone rang. It was a call from one of the church members. She said, “Pastor, my husband just tested positive for COVID-19. He now has a high fever and body aches, and shortness of breath.” I advised her to call an ambulance. She replied “I do not know how to call the ambulance. I can’t speak English. My husband does not want to go to the hospital either. He wants me to inform you about his situation so you can pray for him. He believes that the prayer of the pastors will heal him.” We stopped our business meeting and prayed wholeheartedly for this man. She called again after two weeks and said, “Pastor, I really appreciate you. Because of your prayer, my husband is now healed and will be able to return to work next week.” We later received an appreciation letter along with a thanksgiving offering to the church.
Reflection
Think of a time when you waited on the Lord and He turned to you and heard your cry. Share that experience with your family members.
Isaiah 59:1 – “Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear.”
Hebrews 13:8 – “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Malachi 3:6 – “For I, Yahweh, don’t change.”
Exodus 15:26 – “for I am Yahweh who heals you.”
Prayer
God, you are my refuge, my strength, and my help in times of trouble. Please strengthen my faith in You and grant contentment and peace within me. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
