PAY ATTENTION TO THE DIRECTIONS

I have seven siblings: three males and four females. I am the third daughter among the four daughters. I got married at a very young age, which caused my parents to worry a great deal because I was young and immature. My parents taught me and directed me regarding how to take care of the household, my husband, and children. At that time, I did not pay attention to my parents’ direction. I did not take good care of my household. I did not handle the money well. I also failed in caring for my husband and nurturing my children. My husband also was immature and fell into the temptation of alcohol. As a result, there was no love or peace at home. It took 15 years for me to understand my parents’ teaching about taking responsibility for my family. I changed my behavior because I saw the light. I started drawing near to God by studying the word of God and praying. I try to learn as much as I can from the teachers and pastors and follow their directions. I made changes in my life and also invited my husband to do the same. Now, my husband works very hard and does not drink anymore. My children love going to church and worship the Lord. There is love and peace in my home. By God’s grace, I now have a pleasant home. I am grateful to God immensely.
Reflection
Proverbs 2:11 tells us that “Direction will protect us and understanding will guard us.” Is there a need for you to pay more attention to the direction from your parents or teachers?
Prayer
God, teach us so we will accept and pay attention to wise directions.
