GOD’S LOVE PROTECTS US

The time was in April, 1996. We fled to the very first refugee camp in Thailand in a border-village called Way Su. We had to live on the ground. The material for a roof they gave us was a plastic cover. In a few days, Thai interrogation officials rounded up camp leaders and said, “Select six leaders among you. Tomorrow at 10 AM, we will pick you up in a helicopter. You will need to meet and talk to the government on the border.” At that time, having been selected as one of the camp leaders, I told him we would not go. However, they said what they needed to say and left. They insisted we prepare for a meeting tomorrow.
I told churches and camp leaders to please pray for a miracle. We prayed hard to the Lord in churches and families wholeheartedly. In the morning we saw God’s miracle. In the sky were clouds that quickly poured down heavy rain accompanied by powerful winds. Our plastic roofs were destroyed and all of us were soaking wet from the rain. It was almost noon when the rainstorm ceased. Not long after the rain, the Thai interrogations officials came by and said the trip was canceled. Right after they left, in our thoroughly wet clothes, we praised God for spreading His protection over us.
Reflection
Is our dependence really on God? Do we believe Him and call upon Him in times of trouble? God will spread His protection over us.
Prayer
God, please spread your protection over those who depend on you and draw strength from you. Show us your miracles for the sake of glorifying and honoring you in the Name of Christ. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
