SEEING THROUGH GOD’S EYES

I used to wonder why I ended up in the United States. I could not figure it out until I read Joseph’s story more thoroughly. One thing I admire about Joseph is that he saw everything through God’s eyes. He believed God had a plan for him. Reading through Joseph’s story in Genesis 45 taught me to count the blessings from God and know God brought me to the US for a purpose. Joseph grew up on a farm with his family. His older brothers hated him. They were jealous of Joseph. To make the story short, Joseph’s brother sold him and he ended up in Egypt. I also grew up on a farm. The enemy also hated us.
Suddenly, I had to leave the place where I grew up because of chaos in Burma. In the midst of a disaster, God did miracles for us. In 2008, our family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. The greatest challenge for me was not speaking English. The only thing I kept saying was, “I don’t know. I don’t speak English.” Everything was new and challenging. In spite of the struggles, I reached my goal. I graduated from high school in 2011 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry from Bacone College in 2016. By God’s grace, I also have a good job. I am able to help my relatives in Burma financially. I am also able to help my family and siblings in many ways. Joseph’s story taught me great life lessons.
Reflection
What do you see when you see through God’s eyes? Just as Joseph forgave his brothers, I learned that I must also forgive the enemy who caused me to flee from my birthplace.
