GOD’S HANDS AT WORK
Bible in A Year: Deuteronomy 9, Deuteronomy 10; Luke 12:1-14;
Psalm 42:7-11
“Yet they are your people and your inheritance, which you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.”
Deuteronomy 9:29 WEB
Once, I got a job at Overseas Processing Entry (OPE). They made arrangements for those who would be resettled in foreign countries. There were many steps to follow for those who would be resettled overseas. I worked as a postman. Each day, I had to deliver many letters and inform them they had to take lessons about travelling on a flying trip. Most of the people who received the letters were happy with the hope to start a new life soon. One day, I was delivering letters and got really tired because houses were distant from one another. I had only a few letters left to deliver. When I got to a house, the lady of the house told me, “Nephew, can you give me a little time and talk to me?” I told her I could. She was ambivalent about relocating to another country. She told me, “I do not have a husband. My children are very little. I can’t speak another language. Do you think things are going to be too hard for me in that foreign country I have never been to? I answered, “Things will be hard, but God’s hands will be at work for you and you will be able to overcome them.” Then, I left. When I turned to look at her, I saw a smile on her face. To me, her smile was a symbol that she would depend on the God who would bring her out of the camp by His power and deliver her with His outstretched arm.
Dear brothers and sisters, do you know God’s hands are at work for you? When you face troubles, when your children are disobedient, when your family members do not get along, when you lose your job, when you become ill, Matthew 7:24-25 tells us that the flood will come and the storm will rage on the house built on the rock as well. However, this house will stand stable on the rock. Let us live resolutely in God’s hands that are at work for us.
Reflection
Today, how would you remind yourself that God’s hands are at work for you?
Prayer
God, please help our brothers and sisters, whose lives are built on You, to allow Your hands to guide us to the end. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
