TRUE SACRIFICE

In Moses’ time, if someone sinned, he or she must offer sacrifices for forgiveness. Lambs or goats must be offered, which the priests sacrificed for forgiveness. Many animals had to die to provide forgiveness for people. However, animal sacrifice only reminded people that there is a wage of sin, and the ultimate wage of sin is death. Animal sacrifices did not accomplish the goal of washing sins away. Hence, God had to offer His one and only Son for our forgiveness (John 3:16).
In this day and age, we have a myriad of experiences and we also offer a variety of sacrifices. We have remembrance sacrifice, birthday sacrifice, thanksgiving sacrifice, etc. To offer the sacrifice, we work very hard to prepare by cooking food, cleaning and decorating our homes, etc. We often get exhausted from working hard. But, how about our spiritual sacrifice? When our bodies are tired, we are not so patient. We complain and scold others. Our countenance falls and we get weary. Thanksgiving sacrifice becomes grumbling sacrifice. Is this kind of sacrifice true sacrifice? When we give our offerings with regrets or when we help others with grumbles, can we say we are offering true sacrifices? God does not look at the value of your offerings. Precious stones and diamonds, He does not desire. Better than these before Jesus Christ is our heart of worship. God does not want performance. God wants our heart to worship Him in truth and spirit.

What kind of sacrifices do we offer to God that please Him?
Offering material things or offering our heart, which does God desire?
Prayer
God, please help us so our offerings are not things that just look good before the eyes of men, but true sacrifices coming from the heart. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
