GOD ANSWERS OUR PRAYERS

When I was young, I was not someone who followed the will of God. I was wilful and I did not listen to Him. I drank alcohol, gambled and did whatever I thought would satisfy me. However, God showed His unconditional love for me and redirected me onto the right path through a motorcycle accident that left me with severe injuries. I was sent to a hospital, where I was in a coma for four days. When I was discharged, I went to live with a friend who worked at a lead mine at a place called Htaw Ma Phyo Hta. I met with a mystic there, started learning the practices and ultimately became a mystic myself. I came to realize, then and there, that the devil also has various abilities and methods in his arsenal. Whenever I practiced mysticism, I had to call out the names of various idols and pray to them. Fulfilment was something I never had back then. Ever since I was a child, my parents taught me to pray when I wake up in the morning or go to sleep at night, and it became a habit for me. When I was practicing mysticism, I always wondered who the real God is. Is the Christian God the genuine one? At long last, I prayed “ Dear genuine God, please identify Yourself and show me who You really are.” In short, the everlasting God our Lord and Saviour answered my prayer and I came to realize that the God we believe in is the real and genuine God.
Reflection
What do you believe in? People devote themselves to gain riches, wisdom, popularity or influence. Things that we put most significance in or devote most of our time become the idols that we worship. The world is polluted with wickedness, lies and temptations. Let us seek God’s grace through prayer in order to overcome evil, be rid of ailments, and escape from all our sufferings.
Prayer
Dear Father, we thank You for answering our prayers. Please help us not to be filled with false confidence and be prideful. Please heal our ailments, physical and spiritual, and lead us away from temptations.
In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
