BLESS OTHERS

“Isaac called Jacob, blessed him, and commanded him, …“May God Almighty bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, that you may be a company of peoples, and give you the blessing of Abraham, to you and to your offspring with you, that you may inherit the land where you travel, which God gave to Abraham.””

In the Bible, we read that our forefathers blessed their children. They also tried to live well and served as good examples. They were thoughtful and intentional. They tried to put God first and seek His counsel. Our family also had a precious father, grandfather. He was the eldest son, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great grandfather. His father died relatively young so he had to take care of his mother, brother and sister. He loved God, the Bible, books, education and cleanliness. He conducted everything in a very thorough manner. He was highly educated. He had degrees in mechanical engineering, law, and religious education. He was active in the church, regional men’s fellowship, and local welfare activities. I witnessed that he lived an exemplary life in every stage of his life. With the strength from the Lord, his work was fruitful and blessed many. He was like a flourishing tree that provided shelter for many. However, he did not always reap as he sowed. He had to consume bitter and sour fruits in his lifetime. Nevertheless, he persevered with steadfastness. He provided for his family until he was 82 years old. When he was 83 years old, he became ill and went to be with the Lord at the age of 84. Before he breathed his last breath, he said, “God, bless my children, bless my grandchildren, bless my great grandchildren, bless everyone in my home.”
Reflection
Do we bless others? When things do not go our way, do we curse? God wants us to bless others. Let the words of our mouth be seasoned with more blessings, not curses!

Almighty God, may your abode, your power and your glory be praised and honored. May everything you created bless You! In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
