GOD TURNS BAD INTO GOOD FOR BELIEVERS
Bible in A Year: Genesis 49, Genesis 50, Matthew 17:14-27, Matthew 18:1-9; Psalm 15:1-5
“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to save many people alive, as is happening today.”
Genesis 50:20 WEB
We know that although Joseph was sold by his brothers, separated from the dad who loved him deeply, and forced into slavery in a foreign land, he fulfilled his duties given to him by Potiphar so well that his owner saw God was with Joseph and made everything he handled successful. Therefore, Potiphar appointed him as the head of the household, who was in charge of his properties. At that time, Potiphar’s wife tempted him day after day, but Joseph overcame the temptation. We read about that in Genesis 39:9, “No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” Unjustly, Joseph was put in jail, but God was with him and turned his bitter experiences into successes with His grace. God knew Joseph from the beginning and had a plan to protect him with His loving care for the purpose of making him a blessing to his family and many others. Joseph became second-in-command to Pharaoh. During severe famine, Joseph was able to save his family and the multitudes. We learned that Joseph lived beautifully before God because he trusted God and led a holy life for God. God knows those who trust in Him and depend on Him. In faith, we can rest in the promises of God, knowing that no matter what happens to us, God can turn it into good. God can turn sadness into joy and death into life. God will use us for good, not just for our own good, but for the good of the multitudes, to shine HIs glory.
Reflection
In your life, how have you seen God turn bad into good?
Prayer
Father God, I beg You. When trials and temptations come my way, please help me to believe in your promises and know that everything you do is good. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
