REST IN GOD

We should thank God for not having worries, hardship, and burdens constantly on our shoulders. In August, 2006, I had to leave my mother, my father, and my siblings because of relocating into the third country. Our family always lived together, and never had to separate far apart or long-term. This was the very first time. I prayed that I would get to see my mother, my father, and my siblings and live together in no time. God answered my prayer and within a few months, my family reunited and lived together in one place. After six months, I got a job in a furniture factory. I had to work the night shift. It was very noisy and smelly. I had to work fast and got very tired. Other people who had been working there complained against me when I could not catch up or made a mistake. I felt a very heavy burden that I had not carried before. Everytime I went to work, I prayed before starting work and during the break. I told God, “I believe you sent me here. I had never been in this type of work condition before. Please help me so my coworkers would not complain so much against me. If possible, please help me to leave here and find a job at another place that is good for me, as fast as possible.” To make the story short, after working there for approximately six months, I got another job. The work place was clean and my manager and co-workers were nice. Gradually, I got another job that was even better. Things got easier and worked out for me. I am happy and content. Matthew 11:28a says, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.” The last line of Matthew 11:29 tells us, “…you will find rest for your souls.”
Reflection
Do I know that God always invites me and waits for me to come to Him, give Him the burden heavy on my shoulders, and rest in Him in gladness?
Prayer
God, thank you for carrying my burden and giving me rest. Help me to remember to come to you, so my burdens will depart from me and I will get to rest in You. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
