YOU WILL REAP WHAT YOU SOW

“According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity, and sow trouble, reap the same. By the breath of God they perish. By the blast of his anger are they consumed.”

Thirty years ago, my sister who lived in another village and was pregnant with her third child, came running back to our home. While trying to catch her breath, she said, “Mother, Father is gone.” We were shocked and heart-broken in tears. Out of the blue, we heard our father died and there were no words to express how we felt. When my father left home, he did not have any illness. My mother and siblings got ready to go to the village where my father passed away. Once we got there, his body was already washed, clothed, and placed in a coffin. We did not ask many questions as a lot of work was already done. At night, we heard those, who attended my father’s wake, whispering, “Don’t tell them. We would get our heads cut off.” Later, we found out that our father was murdered because of greed. My father bought and sold buffalos for a living and those people thought he had money. My sister wanted to find out how the killing happened, who killed him, and how justice could be sought. But, my mother said, “No matter what we do, it will not bring back the dead. I do not want to create trouble and hostility among us. I put everything in God’s hands.”
Reflection
Do you sow seeds of trouble or joy? Just as Job said, those who plow evil and sow trouble will reap it. The word of God is the truth. Those who plowed evil and sowed trouble, mentioned above, reaped evil and trouble. Brothers and sisters, let us sow seeds of joy and blessings, so we may reap joy and blessings filled with God’s glory.
Prayer
God, please grant me the power of Your Holy Spirit so I will live my life according to your will. Help me understand, so the seeds I sow come from above and bring joy to your creation. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
