PRAISE GOD WITH JOY FOR WHO HE IS
Bible in A Year: Numbers 1; Numbers 2:1-9; Luke 1:26-38; Psalms 33:12-22
“Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. Yahweh looks from heaven. He sees all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, he who fashions all of their hearts; and he considers all of their works.”

God is the creator of everything. He saved us, redeemed us from our sins, and called us his children. Therefore, we are to praise God with joy for who He is. God lets us live and cares for us each day. Sometimes life is comfortable and sometimes life is hard. Regardless, God is with us and it is His will that we praise Him with joy. Joy comes from knowing God is with us, and not from our circumstances.
It is not God’s will that we complain with ungratefulness. Complaints blind our eyes from seeing God as a loving God. Instead, God is viewed as only a consuming fire. When the Israelites left Egypt, there were about 603,550 who were over twenty years old. However, only two of them were allowed to enter the Promised Land. Complaints blinded their eyes from seeing great things God had done for them.
God is with us and always blessing us. If we do not praise His name and recognize His goodness that exceeds all the bad things that happened to us, our hearts will be far from Him, opening a door for Satan to come in and destroy us. The future of all peoples, all nations, and all kings are in God’s hands. Those who turn to Him will be blessed. Praising God with joy for who He is and depending on His perfection will bring blessings that fill our lives with hope and the desire to seek God more.
Reflection
Count how many times you complain each day. How does that make you feel? Praise God with joy for who He is.
Prayer
Dear God, I pray that You will help us to be cautious with our words, actions, and attitudes. In Jesus’s Name I pray. Amen.
