Gratefulness

Week 17

Gratefulness

I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

Psalm 9:1

The Lord does not quantify our actions. He is after the intentions of our hearts. When we recognize His sovereignty, we would always want to honor Him with our grateful heart. A precious tradition of Karen Christians involves holding in-home thanksgiving services year-round for all kinds of occasions, ranging from birthday, housewarming, graduation, to health recovery. Today, give yourself a reminder to be grateful. Create a sign that reads, “I am grateful for this moment.” Then put it somewhere you look often, such as your mirror, fridge, phone, or desk. This way you’ll have lots of reminders to pause a minute to direct your day towards gratitude. You can also say a gratitude prayer with all your five senses. Here is mine – “Gracious God, something great I touched today was my hands when I prayed to you. Today, I tasted a delicious cup of chamomile tea. A memorable sound I heard today was the song of the birds. The best thing I smelled today was roses in the garden. The most beautiful thing I saw today was the sunrise. I thank You in Jesus name, Amen!”

Gracious God, I am grateful for the touch of _, the taste of _, the sound of _, the smell of _, and the sight of _.  Thank you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
