Exhaustion

Week 14

Exhaustion

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

I am passionate about learning but I grew up in a poor village and never had the opportunity to go to school without disruptions. I came to America and did not speak English. I worked hard to provide for myself and my family. But, I also fought to have time for school. My learning experiences have been extremely exhausting to say the least. When I took the General Education Development (GED) test, I failed it four times before passing. Then again, when I took the Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI) test to get into a nursing college, I failed that test four times. By God’s blessings and my persistence in trying, I was admitted to nursing school. It was most difficult and grueling for me to finish the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in two years. I did not sleep, eat, or rest well throughout my years in nursing school. I felt like my body, my mind, and my brain experienced utter debilitation. By God’s grace, I graduated from nursing school in May 2022. But then, I had to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to become a Registered Nurse. History repeated and I failed the NCLEX exam the first time. My energy was gone and my heart almost gave out. I knelt down and prayed to God like I never had done before. God was right there to give me rest. I passed the NCLEX exam the second time I took it.  God is my resting place.

Gracious God, thank you for You are our resting place.  In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
