GOD’S PROMISE
Jeremiah 29:13 – “You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.” (WEB)
I would like to share my own experience with God’s promise. I had severe nerve pain from the right side of my head all the way down to my hand. It was extremely painful and I could not sleep at night. One night it was so painful I could not stand it any longer. I started praying and crying at the same time. Because of the excruciating pain I could not utter any word but “Lord.” Just one word, “Lord!”, but it was said with all my heart. Suddenly I felt relief in my body and I fell asleep. It reminds me of God’s promise in Jeremiah to search Him wholeheartedly and He will be there.
My husband and I were married for five years but we were not able to conceive during that time. We really would like to have our own kids. At the beginning of 2020 we were so happy to find out that I was pregnant. But when we had the ultrasound during my first trimester, the doctor could not hear the heartbeats of the baby. The doctor tried everything but in the end we lost our child. We could not believe what had happened to us. We could not understand the will of God at that time. But, we accepted it and vowed to continue seeking Him. Then, my husband had to leave for Singapore for work. My husband works as a tunnel machine operator. His job is to operate machines to move and hammer large rocks and boulders. One day the machine was not working properly. Everyone tried to move the rocks but the machine was not cooperating. Then my husband knelt down beside the rocks and prayed silently in his heart, “Help me, Lord.” When he started to operate the machine to move the rocks, it started to work slowly at the beginning and then the rocks were moved completely at the end. His co-workers asked him how he did that. He answered, “Not me, it’s my God.” From then on everyone asked him to solve any problem they encountered because they trusted him. He is now head of his department at work. God is there in daily mundane work as well to help us, if we seek Him for help.
In September of 2020, my father-in-law was hospitalized due to blood blockage in his brain. It was during the COVID-19 period and we could not ask much help from others. Only my mother-in-law who was 70 years old and I were there to take care of him. I prayed to God, “Please help us.” I was running around, trying to be with my father in law at the ICU at the hospital as much as possible and taking care of things at home. At that time one thing came into my mind. If I were still pregnant it would have been about the time to deliver the baby and I would not have been able to do all these things. Later, my father in law died but we were able to arrange the best that we could for his funeral. My husband and his brothers could not be at the funeral due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Now I realized that God wanted to use me when I was needed most.
We still do not have any kids of our own but we are blessed to be involved in helping orphans and other children who are in need. We may not always get what we want, but God’s promise is there to keep watch over us, guide us, and use us for His glorious purposes. A life that seeks God is a secure life. A life that is useful to God is a blessed life.

For believers in Christ, there are no hopeless situations. In any situation, God promises us,
“You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:12-13).
This is also an invitation from God to us to go to Him, pray to Him and communicate with Him to better understand His will. The purpose of seeking God is to find God Himself.

Dear God, please bless Your children reading this devotional journal. Please help them to rely and stand on Your promises. They may be going through a time when they feel confused, alone or abandoned. The truth is You have never failed us and will never fail us. Your promises are that You will never forsake us, but will provide for our needs. Please empower and embolden your children to keep the faith and continue seeking You with all their hearts. Where You are is Where we belong. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.
