Security

Week 43

Security

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.

Isaiah 12:2

As a wife, I rely on my husband. As a married couple, my husband and I are interdependent on each other.  Our children need both of us to thrive. In 2019, my husband had to start taking medicine for a liver disease. The doctor said the disease cannot be cured and he will have to take the medicine for the rest of his life. In 2022, my husband had to go through a surgery to remove a cancerous kidney. Then and there, I realized vividly that my reliance on my husband is vulnerable. Our interdependence on each other also becomes a shaky ground. We can lose our jobs, we can lose our health, we can lose our loved ones, and we can lose our possessions. There is no security in this world. Only God can give us security for now and forever. Is the feeling of insecurity bringing you down? Please know that you can be confident in God and in Him you will find solid security for your life. You can overcome the world when you put your life entirely in the hands of God.

Dear Father God, the world cannot offer us security. Thank you that you are always with us and the security you provide for us is for now and forever. Please help us to take refuge in the shadow of Your wings. We pray in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
